Let’s Save Water is a campaign to help everyone use less water through small, everyday
changes, helping protect water for future generations.
Why do we need to use less water?
Wales is tackling a climate and nature emergency. Warmer, drier summers and wetter winters put pressure on water, especially during hot weather and high demand.
We often use more than we realise. We also need to leave more water in rivers to protect wildlife. Acting now means we all need to use less.
What can we do about it?
Everyone has a part to play. The water industry is investing billions to upgrade the network, but small changes at home make a big difference.
How much water do you use daily?
The average person in Wales uses almost 150 litres a day. We each need to save around 38 litres every day, all year round.
Everyday ways to save water:
- Cut your shower by two minutes to save 28 litres
- Use a washing up bowl instead of a running tap
to save 10 litres per minute - Fix a leaky loo to save up to 400 litres a day
- Use eco-mode on appliances to save 10 litres
per wash
