In an update published on the 29 August 2025, Natural Resources Wales (NRW) announced that trigger levels have been met to move North Wales into drought status. You can read the full statement here.
For the last few months Albion Eco has been liaising with NRW, our bulk supplier, neighbouring water companies and other interested stakeholders over the impact of dry weather on our resources. This year we have seen the driest conditions since the drought of 1976, resulting in low river and groundwater levels.
Despite this we are currently in the lowest stage of our drought plan (normal operation) reflecting the current availability of water from our bulk supplier. We are monitoring this situation closely, and if we need to move into a further stage we will notify all customers as soon as possible.
It is critical that everyone uses water wisely and we will continue to work with our customers, bulk supplier and regulators to ensure that water consumption is minimised.
