Launch of ‘Drinking Water 2022 – Public Supplies Wales’

Albion Eco was pleased to attend The Drinking Water Inspectorate’s (DWI) launch of the ‘Drinking Water 2022 – Public Supplies Wales’ report in Cardiff on 14 July 2023.  The report details the key water quality issues in Wales during 2022, water quality testing, compliance with standards, compliance failures and water quality events, as well as an overview of the work carried out by the DWI (there is a separate report for England).  We have maintained our exemplary record of water quality with no compliance failures and no events in 2022, and as a whole the water companies in Wales achieved a 99.97% level of compliance for the year.  Marcus Rink, the Chief Inspector of Drinking Water, gave a thorough overview of the report’s contents and the challenges facing water quality and supply in Wales.  He set out the areas the DWI are asking water companies to focus on in coming years, including climate change, continuing and new risks, source to tap planning and supply resilience.
