If your water tastes or smells earthy, musty, or stale and the taste/smell is more noticeable first thing in the morning or when the property has been left for a period of time you can usually resolve the issue by running the taps to clear the water that’s been standing in your pipes. Ensure that your cold-water tank is clean and has a well-fitting lid.
If you don’t notice the taste or smell when you drink water away from the sink, then it is likely that the problem is caused by waste in the waste trap or u-bend of your sink. Cleaning the waste trap or running your taps for a few minutes will help to clear it.
