Metallic/bitter tastes

If you have new pipework installed or changes to your plumbing, you may notice a bitter or metallic taste in your water.  The taste can be more pronounced in the morning or after the water has been standing in pipes for longer periods.  Long runs of pipe can also cause this issue.  The taste should improve as the pipework settles in and as a layer of limescale forms on the inside of the pipework.  If the water to your tap is warmed it can also affect the taste, check the layout of your pipework to make sure that any cold water pipes that are near hot water pipes or boilers are lagged to prevent heat transfer.  Running the water before use will clear any water that has been standing in the pipe.
